“What’s Your Wing?” Giveaway

I have so much to celebrate here at Mainsail Studio.  Last week my Harley Dog Patterns joined the Vanessa Butterfly Wings as my second pattern release with Sprout Patterns. Today the Aaron Dragon Wings were released and I had my very first feature on Sew Mama Sew!  To celebrate, together with Sprout Patterns, I will be selecting one lucky reader to create their own child-sized Vanessa or Aaron Wings. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Sprout Patterns where they will be able to choose from the hundreds of thousands of surface patterns in the Spoonflower library to design their “dream wings.”  The wings will be printed on a Sprout Patterns cut and sew fabric panel and shipped to the winner.  After the winner makes their wings, Sprout Patterns will feature their creation on the Sprout Patterns blog and other social media outlets!   Yes – that’s right!  You not only get a fabulous pair of wings designed by you – you will also have a chance at stardom!

To participate, just comment on this post on or before June 17th.  Write a few words telling me, if we give your imagination wings, what your dream wings would look like? Who would wear them?  Are they dragon or a butterfly? Or maybe a pterodactyl, bat or fairy?  Imagine the colors, patterns and texture…are you dark and scary or silly and cute – or none of the above?

One winner will get a ready-to-wear set of medium sized rainbow wings.

One winner will get a ready-to-wear set of medium sized rainbow wings.

If you don’t sew, that’s okay too, because  I have something for one of my non-sewing readers!  As part of your comment, mention that you’d be a “Rainbow Butterfly.”  I’ll randomly choose one reader to receive a ready-made set of my classic rainbow butterfly wings – size medium (these will fit a child about 3-8 years old)

Since I have grandsons, I would probably pick dragon wings. Though I would have to ask as they are very interested in butterflies.

Last year I was really happy and surprised by how many butterflies I was sending to little boys. I’m excited to see what boys design themselves using Sprout Patterns. Kathy, I think you have some Spoonflower designs that would look pretty cool on them.

My daughter would get such a big kick out of having her own set of butterfly wings! We went to the Insectarium a couple of weeks ago and she’s been butterfly obsessed since then. A pair of pink and purple wings would make her year!

My three year old would absolutely love to be a butterfly! A bright cerulean blue one with silvery and blue blue crystal beads clustered at the wing tips. Then she could shimmer and shine!

I would love beautiful pastel butterfly wings for my little grand daughter. She has hip dysplasia and I am waiting for the day she can let her wings fly and crawl and walk like other little girls!!

My son would wear pterodactyl wings every second of everyday! He wouldn’t care what color they were as long as they would allow him to fly!

I’d love to make my own wings but I don’t have a sewing machine right now. I’d go for fairy wings, very gossamer, pale blue or pink. But for now, I’ll have to go with Rainbow Butterfly which is still pretty magnificent 🙂

my grandchildren (two girls and a boy) turn 5 this July. They are avid book readers and love to dress up. I would have to put together two butterflies in pinks, purples, and oranges and a dragon set of wings in blues and greens.

Both of my kids would go nuts over these. My daughter would love the rainbow butterfly. My son I thnk i would jazz it up with some scaly type fabric to give it a lizard/dinosaur feel and maybe attach some superhero buttons because he loves making everybody fly.

I have 2 daughters who would both love the butterfly wings, including your rainbow wings. And I think I would have to carry through the rainbow theme even further and make a set of wings with the full rainbow spectrum.

I’m a leader of a 4H club and we will be decorating our aisle at the fair in a fairytale theme. I think a pair of dragon wings in our club colors would be fun for the kids to take turns wearing while they are on barn duty….hopefully they won’t be too tempting for the goats to taste!

I think I would make a dragon. Where a young boy could imagine themselves taking control of their environment and having fun with it, being Hugh, flying through the air, breathing fire, looking at the world below them. Practicing being a kind and gentle ruler.
I would make it out of greens that have a sheen and would seem like scales.
I love this pattern and think it,s womderful idea to bring a child’s imgination to life!
    Thank You
